Saudi activist Lujain Al-Hathloul released from prison

News Center-Saudi Arabia authorities released Saudi activist Lujain Al-Hathloul yesterday. She was held in prison for nearly three years.
Lujain Al-Hathloul’s sister Lina Al-Hathloul twitted that she was at home.
Lujain was held in prison for nearly three years. She was detained in May 2018 for leading the campaign to legalize driving for women in Saudi Arabia.
Many international organizations and west countries demanded the release of Lujain, known as a symbol for demands of Saudi Arabia women.
Al-Hathloul was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 and 2020.
Campaign to legalize driving for women
She was participated in many campaigns to legalize driving for women in Saudi Arabia and she was arrested more than once.
In 2018, she was among at least a dozen other women’s rights activists arrested. In 2020, she was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison under a broad counterterrorism law. The judge suspended a portion of her sentence, and granted time served for another part. She was released from prison yesterday.
She was subjected to torture
Prominent Saudi women's rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul's family said on social media that she was held in solitary confinement for months and subjected to abuse including electric shocks, flogging and sexual assault.
