News Center- The retrial of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a political prisoner and labor activist imprisoned in Lakan Prison in northern Rasht, will be held without her presence on Thursday, the Campaign to Defend Sharifeh Mohammadi, announced Tuesday on Instagram.

According to the campaign group, the lawyers of the political prisoner requested their client to appear in court; however, their request was rejected by the court. A retrial in absentia is an unfair trial, the campaign group wrote.

Branch 39 of the Supreme Court of Iran overturned the death sentence handed down to her and ordered a retrial of Sharifeh Mohammadi, her lawyers announced on October 12, 2024.
