Radical Women express their solidarity with women resisting in Syria
“Your determination speaks to all oppressed peoples throughout the world, including those inside the imperialist powers,” said a letter of solidarity by Radical Women to women resisting in Syria.
News Center- Radical Women in the United States and Australia have sent a letter of solidarity to women resisting in Syria. “Radical Women sends revolutionary feminist solidarity from the United States and Australia,” the letter said.
The letter written by Helen Gilbert, National Organizer at the Radical Women in the U.S. and Debbie Brennan, National Organiser at the Radical Women in Australia is as follows:
“To our courageous sisters in Syria,
We applaud your declaration that women, who suffered the most under the Baath regime, must be in the forefront of creating a new society from the rubble of Assad’s long and brutal rule. For too long, you have borne the brunt of imperialist-backed barbarism. You have resisted and you will not tolerate another repressive state. Your determination speaks to all oppressed peoples throughout the world, including those inside the imperialist powers.
We salute Syrian women’s historic struggle to reclaim equality as full participants in society. The united front you are forming of women of all oppressed ethnic and religious minorities is a powerful example to movements everywhere, as has Kurdish resistance to femicide and genocide. Like them, we believe that women’s liberation means freedom for everyone and an egalitarian, democratic society that can make our planet liveable. As socialist feminists we stand in solidarity with all people struggling against oppression and genocide, from Gaza to Northeast Syria and beyond.
Woman, Life, Freedom!”
