People of Til Temir demand Abdullah Öcalan's freedom
People of Til Temir collect signatures door to door for the freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's freedom means “solution”, the women of Til Temir say that they will struggle until they ensure his freedom.
Hasakah- The isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan becomes more aggravated every passing day. Abdullah Öcalan has been prevented from seeing his lawyers and family members for 22 months for various reasons. The North and East Syrian People’s Initiative launched a petition demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan and his freedom on January 20, 2023. The petition will last until February 15, when Abdullah Öcalan was handed over to Turkey as a result of an international conspiracy.
In the Til Temir town of Hasakah, a city in North and East Syria, 30 committees have been formed for the petition. The members of these committees have already distributed the petition texts in 134 villages, including Çiyaye Kizwana.
‘The freedom of Öcalan will make many changes’
Gulistan Xelîl, an old Kurdish mother, is one of the women who have been collecting signatures for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. “We demand our leader be released. We believe that the freedom of Öcalan will make many changes. Undoubtedly, we will not be displaced people; we will return to our homeland when he gets his freedom.”
‘We hope that the petition will result in success’
Tûfaha El-Nasir, an Arab woman, also demanded the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. “If the petition results in success, if the freedom of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) is ensured, it will be very good. We hope that the petition will result in success. Öcalan's freedom will be a great present for us, for Arab people. The freedom leader Apo will bring lasting peace. The key to peace is in the hands of leader Apo. His freedom will ensure safety all around the world.”
‘People demand the freedom of Öcalan’
Ronaz Yûnis, member of the Monitoring Committee of the Til Temir People’s Initiative, said, “Today, all people, particularly Kurdish, Arab and Syriac people, sign the petition wholeheartedly for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. People from all nations and religions demand the freedom of leader Apo. We believe that leader Öcalan will end all crises and that the key to peace is in his hands. Everyone knows that Öcalan struggles for humanity.”
‘His freedom will bring a permanent solution’
Stating that the CPT does not fulfill its responsibilities, Ronaz Yûnis said, “The attitude of the CPT is questionable. It does not fulfill its responsibilities; it does not defend the rights of prisoners. Since the CPT does not exhibit a firm attitude against the isolation, the isolation imposed on leader Apo becomes more aggravated every day. All states and the international community do not want the end of crises and problems in the world. They do not want wars to end. Öcalan's physical freedom will ensure lasting peace.”
‘We should break the isolation in Imrali’
Ronaz Yûnis concluded her speech by saying, “The fire in the hearts of the people will break the Turkish occupation and fascism. The Turkish state is a fascist state and it deprives our leader of all his rights. We are concerned about his health. Women all around the world should join hands to break the isolation in Imrali. We should struggle for the founder of the philosophy Jin, Jiyan, Azadî.”
