Amed (Diyarbakır)- On November 10, Warisha Moradi, a women’s rights defender and a member of the East Kurdistan Free Women Society (KJAR), was sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Court on charges of “armed rebellion” against the Iranian regime.

The members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative came together in Amed on Friday to protest the death sentence handed down to Warisha Moradi. Mürvet Demir read a statement on behalf of the members of the initiative.

‘Do not kill women’

“Today, we have come together to protest the death sentence handed down to Warisha Moradi. We call on the Iranian state to end the death penalty. Women are the architects of life; do not kill life. We call on all states to abolish the death penalty around the world.”
