NAGHAM KARAJEH
Gaza-The humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli attacks and siege on the Gaza Strip since Oct.7 has been deteriorating. The stories of millions of Palestinians struggling to survive show the dimensions of war in Gaza.
The story of Shadia Al-Nimr is one of these stories. When Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip started, she was pregnant with her fourth child. “We could not meet our basic needs due to the attacks. One day, we had to enter a house to find clothes for ourselves; however, the house was targeted by an Israeli airstrike. My spouse and three children were killed in the airstrike. Since then, my life has turned into a nightmare,” she told NuJINHA.
‘I gave birth in difficult conditions’
After losing her spouse and three children, her labor pain started. “There were no doctors or midwives because hospitals were out of service due to the Israeli attacks. I gave birth in a dark room, in unhygienic conditions without a doctor or midwife.”
She faced other problems after giving birth to her child
The suffering of Shadia Al-Nimr did not end after giving birth to her fourth child. She told us that she could not provide necessary care for her baby because the Israeli forces prevented the sufficient medical and food supplies from entering Gaza.
“There is no health center providing vaccinations for newborn babies. My family has been torn apart and I have no future. I am struggling to feed my baby. I am trying to protect my children under bombardment that turns our days into nights. I am trying to cope with malnutrition and stress while trying to provide hygienic conditions for my baby.”
Shadia Al-Nimr suffers from anxiety since she has lost her family, her house and suffered from the lack of medications and food.
