News Center- Nasrin Khezri Javadi (Azam), a labor activist imprisoned in Evin prison, has been denied access to adequate medical care despite her deteriorating health.  

Suffering from several diseases, including osteoporosis, Nasrin Javadi has requested to be temporarily released from prison to receive treatment outside; however, she has been deprived of her right to treatment by the prison officials.

Nasrin Javadi, Iranian labor rights defender, member of the Free Union of Iranian Workers (FUIW), founding member of the Social Security’s Retired Workers Council and a former employee of the Medical Distribution Company, was first arrested on May 1, 2019 while attending a workers’ protest rally in front of parliament in Tehran. She was then released from Qarchak prison on May 29, 2019.

In August 2019, she was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison and 74 lashes by the Revolutionary Court on charges of “gathering and conspiring to act against the security of the country”, “disturbing public order and peace”, and “propaganda against the regime”.

In 2022, she was summoned to Tehran’s Public and Revolutionary Court to serve her 5-year sentence. On July 2, 2022, she was transferred to Evin prison to serve her prison sentence.
