Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 595th day. While Emine Şenyaşar had to stay at her home in the Suruç district of Urfa province due to her health problems, her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the Urfa Courthouse in the morning to hold their sit-in protest for justice. He hung a banner reading, “Justice for the Şenyaşar family, justice for everyone,” on the concrete barriers to demand justice again.

Municipal police have seized the banner

Last week, the area, where the Şenyaşar family has held their sit-in protest, was surrounded by iron barriers and blockaded by the police, then it was turned into a used as a parking area by the Urfa Municipality run by the AKP. Today, the municipal police have seized the banner without warning. When Ferit Şenyaşar realized the situation and reacted to the municipal police; however, the municipal police took the banner without any response. The police officers in front of the courthouse told Ferit Şenyaşar, “Don’t hang the banner today, you will hang it tomorrow,” noting that the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor was uncomfortable with the banner.

“Today our banner was seized. The municipal police seized it. All people in Urfa follow the persecution in front of the courthouse. Mayor @zabeyazgul has also become a member of the circle of persecution…” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account
