Kongra Star commemorates Hevrin Khalaf and Mother Eqîde
Kongra Star has released a written statement, commemorating Hevrin Khalaf, the Secretary General of the Future Syria Party, and Mother Eqîde, member of the Mediation Committee of Girkê Legê, who were killed in Turkish attacks.
News Center- Kongra Star has released a written statement, commemorating Hevrin Khalaf, the Secretary General of the Future Syria Party who was killed by Turkish-backed Ahrar al-Sharqiya members on October 12, 2019, and Yadê Eqîde, member of the Mediation Committee of Girkê Legê who was killed in a Turkish attack on October 13, 2019.
In the statement, Kongra Star defines the killing of Hevrin Khalaf as an attempt “to silence the voices of free women and to destroy their identity and struggle.”
“Hevrin Khalaf was the symbol of resistance and struggle for freedom. Hevrin always made efforts to build a democratic Syria. The occupying Turkish state first attacks women because it is afraid of the power of women leaders of the revolution.”
The statement emphasized that the fight against occupation attacks would continue and called on the international community to fulfill its historical responsibilities for bringing the killers of women to account. “We condemn the international silence against the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions. We call on the guarantor state to do their part in protecting human rights.”
‘We will strengthen our struggle for freedom’
At the end of the statement, Kongra Star vows to “strengthen our struggle for freedom with the spirit of Mother Eqîde, martyr Hevrin Khalaf and all women who sacrificed their lives on the path to freedom. The ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ philosophy will light our path. Our struggle will continue until our occupied areas are liberated and a democratic Syria is built. We will never give up or take a step back.”
