News Center- Women are killed, subjected to violence and all kinds of rights violations in Afghanistan ruled by the Taliban. On August 21, 2024, the Taliban authorities announced the ratification of a detailed “Law on the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice,” which bans women from raising their voices in public, and requires Afghan women to cover their faces. Several days ago, 16 women were arrested in Afghanistan’s Khost province for “not wearing the proper hijab”. In the country, the policies of the Taliban pave the way for femicide and they reward the killers of women with impunity.

Deepening poverty in Afghanistan causes families to marry off their daughters at an early age. In addition, there is an increase in the rate of domestic violence and femicide in the country and the media underrepresents crimes against women because the Taliban control the media.
