Journalists’ organizations condemn drone attack on vehicle of JIN TV
The MKGP and DGS have released a written statement condemning the Turkish drone attack on the vehicle of JIN TV in North and East Syria.
News Center- The Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP) and Dicle Fırat Journalists’ Association (DFG) have released a written statement condemning the Turkish drone attack on the vehicle of JIN TV, an all-women channel, on the road between Qamishlo and Amûde in North and East Syria on August 23. The Turkish drone attack killed a press worker named Necimedîn Feysel Hec Sînan and injured JIN TV correspondent Delila Ağît.
“Kurdish journalists and the free press workers continue to pay a price to make the truth heard,” said the MKGP and DFG in the statement.
“Journalism keeps a great struggle within itself. It also struggles against the denial of identities and oppression. For this reason, journalism is always subjected to attacks and oppression. Especially, women journalists are subjected to attacks and oppression. Journalists in war zones are often attacked and killed.”
Pointing out that the Turkish state has openly violated international conventions and human rights, the statement said, “They (the Turkish state) should know very well that they cannot make journalists bow to them by killing, attacking, oppressing and torturing journalists. Those who follow the truth will always report the truth. Once again, we condemn the attacks against journalists. We call on all human rights organizations and journalists’ organizations to speak out against the attacks on journalists to end such attacks. Free press workers are immortal.”
