Journalist Nadiye Gürbüz acquitted of all charges

Nadiye Gürbüz, an editor at Etkin News Agency (ETHA), has been acquitted of all charges related to membership in a terrorist organization and spreading terror propaganda.

News Center- The second hearing in the trial against journalist Nadiye Gürbüz, an editor at Etkin News Agency (ETHA), was held today at Istanbul 25th High Criminal Court of First Instance.

After the prosecution submitted the opinion, the court acquitted Nadiye Gürbüz of all charges related to membership in a terrorist organization and spreading terror propaganda.

In 2023, journalist Nadiye Gürbüz was detained as part of an investigation based in Eskişehir and Istanbul into the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF) and then she was transferred to Marmara (Silivri) Prison No. 9. A prison sentence of 22 years and six months was demanded against her on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization” and “propagandizing for a terrorist organization”.
