Janklok neighborhood under bombardment... Civilians pay the price for living near military bases

The killing of Parvin Sabahi in Iran highlights the dangers for residents near military installations, especially in areas lacking basic services and facing difficult living conditions.

News Center — Amid escalating military tensions and the continued targeting of military sites in populated areas, the name of Parvin Sabahi, a Balochi woman from the city of Chabahar, has emerged among the list of civilians who lost their lives due to the repercussions of military operations.

The Balochistan Human Rights Documentation Network announced that it has identified Parvin Sabahi, who was killed during the US attacks that targeted military centers in the city of Chabahar.

According to the network, Parvin Sabahi passed away after the Jangalook neighborhood was subjected to blast waves and falling ammunition and military equipment that reached the residential area. This also resulted in injuries to several members of her family, including her children, who were transferred to medical centers to receive medical care.

The network stated that the incident occurred yesterday at dawn, Thursday, July 9, following the attacks that targeted military sites in Chabahar. It explained that Parvin Sabahi was residing in the Jangalook neighborhood, which is one of the residential areas located near a number of centers belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and government institutions.

Explosions and Ammunition Reached Residential Areas

According to local sources quoted by the Balochistan Human Rights Documentation Network, the intensity of the explosions that occurred following the targeting of the military installations caused parts of the ammunition and equipment inside those sites to fly toward the surrounding areas, leading to them falling onto residents' homes and causing damage to a large number of them.

The sources indicated that Parvin Sabahi lost her life due to the effects of the explosions and the falling of military debris inside the neighborhood, while members of her family were injured as a result of the incident. They also spoke of widespread material damage to homes near the targeted site.

Images published from the scene of the incident show, according to the sources, the extent of the damage caused to a number of homes, in addition to the presence of parts of military equipment and ammunition said to have fallen inside the neighborhood after the explosions.

Deprived Residents Facing the Consequences of the Conflict

The Jangalook neighborhood is considered one of the poor areas in Chabahar, where many residents live in simple housing that lacks many basic facilities and services.

The Jangalook neighborhood has not been far from tensions in past years, as the Balochistan Human Rights Documentation Network points out that the area previously witnessed clashes and events that affected its residents.

The killing of Parvin Sabahi and the injury of members of her family come at a time of increasing human rights warnings about the impact of military operations on civilians, especially in areas where military installations are located near residential communities.

Human rights organizations emphasize that protecting the civilian population and minimizing their exposure to the risks of armed conflicts are fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, calling on all parties to take the necessary measures to avoid civilian casualties and ensure their safety.
