Identity of murderer of Nagihan Akarsel announced
The identity of the murderer of Nagihan Akarsel, journalist and member of Jineology Academy, has been announced as İsmail Peker, who was born in the Mamak district of Turkey’s capital Ankara.
News Center- On December 25, 2022, Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council member Zübeyir Aydar attended a program of the Stêrk TV and announced the identity of murderer of Nagihan Akarsel, who was killed in Sulaymaniyah on October 4, 2022, as İsmail Peker, who was born in the Mamak district of Turkey’s capital Ankara. Nagihan Akarsel was a prominent Kurdish journalist, academic and member of Jineology Academy.
On the TV program, Zübeyir Aydar said, “This person is a criminal. He has already confessed to his crimes. We know what he said and confessed. In his statement, he said, ‘I came here for this (to kill Nagihan Akarsel). They gave me money, they gave me everything.’ So they made a plan and sent him there (Sulaymaniyah). He also said, ‘They called me and said that Nagihan had left the house. I had already found her house and I was standing nearby. I killed Nagihan when I saw her walking. Then, I made a plan to flee to Erbil.’ He thought he would flee if he went to Erbil. He was told that. So far, all perpetrators, who have committed crimes in Sulaymaniyah have gone directly to Erbil. Erbil is like Ankara for them; it is a place of freedom for them. But the Asayish of Sulaymaniyah (Kurdish security forces) arrested him before he could flee to Erbil. He has confessed to many crimes but we can only give this information. The perpetrator of the Paris Massacre (On December 23) is someone like him. The important thing is who made the plan, not who shot.”
