HDP Sur District Co-chair Hatun Yıldız sentenced to 6 years, 3 months in prison

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Sur District Co-chair Hatun Yıldız has been sentenced to six years and three months in prison.
Amed – The final hearing of the lawsuit opened against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Sur District Co-chair Hatun Yıldız on charges of “being a member of a(terrorist) organization)” and “making propaganda for a (terrorist) organization” was held today by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. Hatun Yıldız didn’t attend the trial while her lawyer Yusuf Çakas attended.
During the trial, Çakas noted that his client is a politician and carries out her political activities, “It is said my client attended 300 funeral ceremonies but only 10 of them were included in the file. These should be considered as political activities,” and he demanded his client to be acquitted.
After a short break, the court has sentenced Hatun Yıldız to six years and three months in prison.
