Gurbet Ceylan released after more than seven years in prison
Gurbet Ceylan has been released from Bayburt M-type Closed Prison after serving seven years and six months in prison.
News Center- Gurbet Ceylan released from Bayburt M-type Closed Prison on January 14, 2024 after serving seven years and six months in prison.
She was welcomed by many in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province, her hometown, last night.
Gurbet Ceylan was taken into custody in Nusaybin on July 19, 2016 and then she was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison on charges of “membership in an illegal organization”. In January 2017, she was transferred to Bayburt M-Type Closed Prison.
In 2022, Gurbet Ceylan was expected to be released from prison since she served one-third of her sentence; however, she was not released because she received unjust disciplinary punishments by the prison administration.
