Greta Thunberg to be deported amid allegations of mistreatment
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg will be deported from Israel to Greece amid an international outcry following reports that she was mistreated during her detention after participating in the “Freedom Flotilla” bound for Gaza.

News Center – The Greek government has announced its approval to receive Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who will be deported this Monday, October 6, from Israel to Athens, as part of a special flight carrying 165 participants of the “Global Freedom Flotilla” held by Israeli authorities.
This step comes after an international wave of anger following reports that Thunberg was subjected to harsh treatment while in detention. According to diplomatic sources, Greta Thunberg informed Swedish embassy officials that she had been held in a “bedbug-infested cell” and received only minimal amounts of food and water, which led to dehydration and a skin rash.
Shocking testimonies from inside the prison
Activists within the flotilla revealed that Israeli soldiers “pulled Greta by her hair, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag in front of everyone,” describing the incident as “a warning to the other detainees.”
Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard expressed deep concern, stating, “If these allegations are true, the situation is extremely serious,” emphasizing the need to respect the consular and human rights of detainees.
The Greek government-funded flight will depart from Ramon Airport in southern Israel and will carry, in addition to Greta Thunberg, dozens of activists of various nationalities, including Greeks, French, and Italians, who were part of the flotilla attempting to break the Gaza blockade.
