Figen Yüksekdağ: We contribute to peace
DEM Party Co-chair Tülay Hatimoğulları visited Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, former Co-chairs of the HDP in prison. “We contribute to peace,” is the message of the co-chair about the recent discussion about a new possible peace process.
News Center- Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan visited Selahattin Demirtaş, former Co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), and Selçuk Mızraklı, former Co-mayor of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality in Edirne F-type Closed Prison on Thursday. On Wednesday, the co-chairs visited former HDP Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and former HDP Amed MP Semra Güzel in the Kocaeli F-type Closed Prison.
‘The first reflex is to demand the lift of the isolation’
After their visits, Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan held a press conference giving information about their visits. “Some try to create an Öcalan-Demirtaş dichotomy,” Tülay Hatimoğulları said, sharing the message of Selahattin Demirtaş about this issue. “No one should try to create such a dichotomy, and what I would say about a possible process is; the first reflex is to demand the lift of the isolation (imposed on Abdullah Öcalan),” said the message of Selahhatin Demiştaş.
‘We contribute to peace’
Tülay Hatimoğulları also said that Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş had stated the following: “If we were outside, we would, of course, contribute to peace. Even though we are behind bars, we will do our best to contribute to peace.”
