News Center- FEMENA, a women’s organization supporting women human rights defenders and feminist organizations in the MENA and Asia regions, released a statement on Wednesday on X, demanding the release of Afghan activist Manizha Sediqi, who was arrested by the Taliban in Kabul on October 9, 2023.
“Urgent plea for Manizha Sediqi, abducted by the Taliban from her home. Her whereabouts are unknown, facing torture and ill-treatment. We demand urgent attention and action to ensure her safety and condemn such human rights violations,” the statement said.
On January 22, 2024, Amnesty International demanded the “unconditional” release of Manizha Sediqi in a statement. Amnesty International also called on the Taliban to cease the punishment of protesting women. “She has no access to lawyers, regular family visits, or healthcare support. She must be immediately and unconditionally released,” the statement said.
