Emine Şenyaşar reacts to police blockade: What kind of justice is this?

The Şenyaşar family continues to hold their sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse despite the police blockade. Emine Şenyaşar reacted to the police blockade by saying, “What kind of state is this, what kind of justice is this?”

Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 533rd day. In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the courthouse to demand justice again.

Police confiscated the cushion of Emine Şenyaşar

The family members have been prevented by police from holding their sit-in protest in the shade at the entrance of the courthouse since August 8. Emine Şenyaşar and her son wanted to enter the courthouse to meet the prosecutor; however, the prosecutor refused their request. Although police tried to prevent the family from holding their protest in the shade at the entrance of the courthouse, Emine Şenyaşar sat down there. In response, police confiscated the cushion of Emine Şenyaşar and dozens of police officers surrounded the family. Police also tried to prevent journalists from covering the protest.

Reacting to the police blockade, Emine Şenyaşar addressed Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan and said, “You also have children. Don't you see this persecution? Don't you have any conscience? Two of our family members are left, come and kill us too. Does anyone hear our voice? What kind of state is this, what kind of justice is this? I cannot stand this pain anymore. You killed our family members. Everyone should rise up against this persecution. Why do you protect your parliamentarian?”

“The persecution continues”

“High-level officials, who talk about the rule of law and justice, play ostrich against the mother's demand for JUSTICE. The persecution of police against the mother in front of the #Urfa Courthouse continues,” the Şenyaşar family wrote on their social media account.
