News Center- 86 ecological/environmental organizations, which announced the establishment of the Ecology Union after holding meetings in Bergama in November 2017 and In Eskişehir in March 2018, will hold a conference in Amed (Diyarbakır) on Saturday to form a national and international network.

At the conference to be held at ÇandAmed, the new executive board members will be elected and a road map will be determined to combat environmental degradation in Turkey and Kurdistan. The aim of the conference is to raise voice against the environmental degradation, said Güner Yanlıç, Co-chair of the Ecology Union. “Together, we will struggle for a peaceful life in solidarity with each other by forming a national and international network.”

‘We will speak out against the system of exploitation’

Amed Ecology Association is one of the 86 environmental organizations uniting under the umbrella of the Ecology Union.

“The city of Amed has played a leading role in many fields, including the struggle for ecology. For this reason, the conference will be held in Amed. At the conference, we will give information about the environmental degradation in Amed and carry out awareness-raising activities. We will speak out against the environmental degradation caused by the Silvan Dam, shale gas and oil wells, and the system of exploitation,” Güner Yanlıç said.

‘We aim to form a national and international network’

Pointing to the attacks of the capitalist system on the environment, Güner Yanlıç said, “We aim to form a national and international network combating the attacks on the environment. We will strengthen our struggle to show how the sovereign system destroys the environment and social life.”
