The Diplomacy Committee of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (TAJÊ) held its annual meeting.
Shengal (Sinjar)- The Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) was founded after the genocide committed against Yazidi in 2014 to support and rescue all Yazidi women abducted by ISIS
The Diplomacy Committee is one of the committees of the TAJÊ. The aim of the committee is to make the voices of Yazidi women heard all around the world. The committee works coordinately with women in Iraq, in the Middle East and all around the world for the recognition of the genocide committed against Yazidi in 2014 by ISIS. In 2022, the committee made great efforts to rescue the abducted Yazidi women and make their voices heard all around the world. The committee holds an annual meeting at the end of each year to discuss how they strengthen and improve their activities. The committee had its 2022 meeting with the participation of the members of the TAJÊ.
At the meeting, women decided to strengthen and improve their activities in order to rescue the Yazidi women held captive by ISIS and for the recognition of the genocide by all countries. The women also focused on how they can share the sufferings of the Yazidi women with women all around the world. One of the important issues discussed at the meeting was to ensure that those who committed the genocide face trial.
‘We will take stronger steps’
Speaking about the committee’s 2022 meeting, Tewrê Xelef, member of the TAJÊ, said that they formed their will with the thoughts and ideology of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “We will liberate our society with this will. Before the genocide, we, as Yazidi women, had no will. But now, we have a strong will thanks to the thoughts and ideology of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). Now, we introduce ourselves not only in Shengal, but all over the world and demand our rights. We held our meeting with the participation of our members. We will take stronger steps in 2023,” she told us.
‘Yazidi women reveal their will’
Speaking about the meeting, Zehra Dexîl said, “Yazidi women have taken great steps until now. We will further expand our activities in 2023. At the meeting, we discussed our annual works and activities. We mostly focused on our works and activities in 2023. We discussed what kind of diplomacy work we will carry out in 2023. We will take stronger steps. Now, Yazidi women reveal their will. We call on all Yazidi women to take more steps for their rights and to have a stronger will. We need unity because there are many plans against Yazidi women. We must defend our lands.”
