Dêrsim Co-mayor Birsen Orhan sentenced to 5 months in prison

Birsen Orhan, Co-mayor of Dêrsim who was removed from office and replaced with a state-appointed trustee, has been sentenced to five months in prison over her speeches.

Birsen Orhan did not attend the hearing at the Tunceli 1st Criminal Court of First Instance on Friday while her lawyers were present at the hearing.

The prosecution requested Birsen Orhan to be sentenced in prison on charges of “inciting the public to commit acts against internal and external security” for having the book “Introduction to Jineology” and using “invasion” and “struggle” in her speeches during the protests against the state-appointed trustee.

The court has sentenced Birsen Orhan to five months in prison on charges of “inciting the public to commit acts against internal and external security”.
