Amed (Diyarbakır)- Voters in Turkish and Kurdish cities have been heading to the polls to elect mayors and administrators in local elections. A group of AKP members killed Emin Çelik, a People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) member monitoring local election procedure at a school in the Çirmik (Ağaçlıdere) village of Diyarbakır’s Sur district, and injured many others.

According to received reports, Emin Çelik had been threatened by AKP members not to monitor the local elections.
