News Center – Prisoners of "Bandar Abbas" Prison in Hormozgan, Iran, announced that starting Tuesday, 22 September, they will join the "Tuesday No to Execution" campaign, and will stage a weekly hunger strike in protest against the issuance and implementation of death sentences. With the joining of "Bandar Abbas" Prison, the number of prisons participating in this campaign rises to 63.

According to a statement issued by the prisoners, the hunger strike will begin on Tuesday, 22 September, and will continue weekly thereafter in parallel with prisoners in other prisons participating in the campaign. Participants in this protest movement declare their rejection of the use of the death penalty and the continued implementation of death sentences.

The "Tuesday No to Execution" campaign began through weekly hunger strikes organized by prisoners in various prisons, and its scope gradually expanded in recent months to currently include prisons in several cities across the country. The joining of "Bandar Abbas" Prison expands the geographical scope of this protest movement to also include Hormozgan province.
