A Turkish parliamentary committee on Kurdish issues, including major party representatives, traveled to Imrali Island to meet Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The "National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy" committee, formed by the Turkish Parliament to address the Kurdish issue, traveled on Monday, 24 November, to Imrali Island to meet with Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The parliamentary delegation includes Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party bloc leader Kelestan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Nationalist Movement Party deputy Feti Yıldız, and Justice and Development Party member Hüseyin Yaman. The delegation will reach the island by helicopter.
During the meeting, the committee members will hear Öcalan’s perspectives, with the minutes kept secret for ten years. Discussions are expected to cover the founding of the PKK, Turkish-Kurdish relations, peace efforts, proposed solutions, and steps to build trust between parties.
The committee concluded a long series of deliberations in its 18th meeting, deciding on 21 November by majority vote to send the delegation. Votes in favor came from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party, Justice and Development Party, Nationalist Movement Party, Democratic Socialist Labour Party, and the Turkish Workers’ Party.
In contrast, the Republican People’s Party refused to participate in the vote or send representatives, and the New Way parties also abstained from joining the delegation to Imrali Island.
