Qamishlo- On December 23, 2022, a gun attack was carried out against the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center in Paris. The Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Member Emine Kara (Nom de guerre: Evîn Goyi), singer Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) and Abdurrahman Kızıl lost their lives in the massacre. After the massacre, Kurdish people took to the streets in many countries to protest and demand whoever is responsible must be brought to book. In the interview with NuJINHA, Şaha Xelîl, Spokesperson of Kongra Star in the Qamishlo Canton, condemned the second Paris Massacre.

‘Solidarity should be strengthened against the attacks’

“We have been going through such a period that women pioneers are targeted and attacked every day. Evin Goyi, Mir Perwer and Abdullah Kızıl were murdered in Paris. We never forget the first massacre that took place in Paris. The first massacre has not been solved yet. If France was a democratic country, it would had revealed those who is responsible for the first massacre. The Paris Massacres were committed against women and their free thoughts. Our people never accept these massacres and attacks; they have been taking to the streets to protest them. We know that these attacks will continue; but what is important is that we, as Kurdish people, should strengthen our solidarity against these attacks. Our philosophy and project we believe in is the basis of our success.”

‘Women involved in activities thanks to her’

Şaha Xelîl spoke about the personality Evin Goyi by mentioning her efforts in North and East Syria. “Our comrade Evin Goyi spent her 33 years in this struggle. She played a great role in organizing hundreds of women. She left her mark in history by fighting ISIS in the region. The current system does not want such strong women because it knows that strong women threaten its interests. Evin Goyi played a great role in the revolution of Rojava Kurdistan. Many women involved in the activities for freedom thanks to her. Evin Goyi defended women’s rights and freedom to the end. We will follow her legacy of struggle to the end.”
