News Center- Since Turkey withdrew from the Istanbul Convention, violence against women has kept increasing in the country. Eight women were killed in Turkey in the last 24 hours as women all around the world plan to take to the streets on the International Women’s Day to voice their demands.

Denizli

An Afghan woman identified as Nasim Gol Karimi was killed by her husband Muhammet Esmail Habibi in the town of Pamukkale.

Izmir

Özlem Çankaya was killed by her husband Ahmet Çankaya in the district of Aliağa.

Istanbul

Emine Ülkü Araz was shot dead by her husband in the district of Çekmeköy.

Sevilay Karlı was killed by her ex-husband in the district of Pendik.

Sakarya

Hatun Ekrem Aslan was shot dead by her husband Ali Rıza Aslan in the district of Akyazı.

Bursa

Tuba Ateşci was shot dead by her ex-husband.

Semsûr (Adıyaman)

A man named Kasım A. killed his wife, Tuğba A., his brother-in-law and his 9-year-old son in the town of Samsat.

Erzurum

Şafak Saydam, who was released from prison on February 19, 2024, seriously injured his wife Elif Saydam. Elif Saydam died after struggling at hospital for nine days.

Adana

Nurseli K. was seriously injured by her ex-boyfriend named Oktay D. at her workplace. Nurseli K. was transferred to a hospital for treatment.
