11 truffle pickers killed by ISIS in Syrian desert
11 truffle pickers were killed in an attack by ISIS in Al-Raqqah desert, located in Raqqa, northeastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday.
News Center- At least 11 people were killed in an attack by ISIS after the explosion of the landmine while searching for truffles in Al-Raqqah desert, located in Raqqa, northeastern Syria, the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday.
According to SOHR, three truffle pickers were kidnapped and their fate remains unknown.
On March 10, 2024, the SOHR published statistics saying that 197 people, including 34 civilians, had been killed in the attacks by ISIS in the west Euphrates region and the deserts of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Raqqah and Homs since the beginning of 2024.
People, mostly women, search for truffles in the Syrian desert to earn a living; however, they are often targeted by ISIS.
