Tel Tamer _ Syria has witnessed systematic abductions and targeting of Alawite women and girls from the Syrian coast during 2025&2026. The perpetrators have escaped punishment, and these violations continue to this day. Instead of investigation and accountability, the interim government and its media are attempting to mislead public opinion about the reality of what is happening.

Women in Tel Tamer, Rojava, are concerned about the situation of Alawite women, describing what is happening as “another Epstein Island in Syria.”

“We hope Syria does not turn into an Epstein Island”

Marwa Issa believes that the security situation in Syria is deteriorating on all fronts, explaining that Syria "has moved from one phase to another, many conflicts have emerged, and the phenomenon of abducting women in various parts of the country has increased significantly." She affirmed that "an end must be put to the abduction of women and children, the kidnapped must be released, and the harshest punishments must be imposed on the perpetrators."

The situation of Syrian women is "extremely difficult," as she says, and the interim government must "think about their stability, activate protection mechanisms, and release the kidnapped women." She stressed that the abduction of women from in front of their homes or in markets should not be tolerated, because "the government's duty is to protect women, not to cover up the violations committed against them."

She added: "We hope Syria does not turn into an Epstein Island, because the atrocities happening in Syria remind people of Epstein's atrocities." She explained that this issue indicates a lack of morality, religion, and humanity. "We hope Syria does not reach this level, because Syria contains multiple civilizations and must live according to its values."

"Abduction of women is one of the manifestations of security collapse"

For her part, Khawla Awish affirms that “women must live in peace and security.” She believe that the reason behind the abductions is pressure on women to change their religious identity. “This is why cases of abductions have increased recenty, Yazidi, Christian, or Alawite women should not be forced to change their religion, because everyone has their own religion. The abduction of women confirms that insecurity in Syria has reached a dangerous stage.”

The interim government does not protect women, rather, it supports an unreal narrative regarding the abduction of Alawite women. This is what Khawla Awish affirmed, calling on internationsl organizations to follow up on the issue of Alawite women abductions.

She stressed the need to close the file of the abducted women by returning them to their homes and families, criticizing the interim goverment: “Syrian women have not found peace.Therefor, women’s rights must be protected by the constitution, because we have not yet seen this government protect women or punish criminals.”

Khawla Awish also pointed out that the interim government’s role is to protect the people, especially women, yet it “kidnaps them and subjects them to psychological and sexual assaults, thereby violating their rights.”
