KJAR warns of a series deterioration in Zeynab Jalalian’s health
KJAR: has affirmed that the condition of Zeynab Jalalian in Yazid Prison is extremely deteriorating and that her life is in danger, calling for her immediate release and transfer to a hospital to receive medical care.
News Center _ Female detainees, especially poitical prisoners, in Iranian prisons face a lack of adequate medical care and increasing health risks, reflecting a broader crisis in humane treatment standards and requiring urgent intervention to ensure their safety.
The Free Women’s System of East Kurdistan (KJAR) issued a statement warning about the condition of Kurdish political prisoner Zeynab Jalalian, affirming that the health condition of the oldest political prisoner in Iran is very poor, that her life in Yazid Prison is in danger, and that she requires immediate treatment.
The statement noted that security authorities condition any form of medical supervision, or even the right to a phone call, on Zeynab Jalalian writing a letter of “repentance.” Zeynab Jalalian faces the risk of completely losing her eyesight as a result of torture she suffered after contracting COVID-19 in Qarchak Prison.
KAJR explained in its statement that Zeynab Jalalian has become a symbol of women’s resistancebecause ofalling for her unconditional release and immediate transfer to a hospital.
Zeynab Jalalian,45 years old, was arrested in 2007 and has been detained in Khoy, Qarchak, Kerman, Kermanshah, and Yazid prisons for nearly twenty years without any leave. In 2009,she was sentenced to death on charges of "inciting sedition and belonging to the Free Women's Organization of East Kurdistan," before the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 2011 as a result of pressure from activists, organizations, and human rights institutions.
