Qamishlo — In the face of a reality laden with challenges, women in Rojava continue to shape their presence with a will that transcends limitations, proving that pain can be transformed into a driving force for change.
The Syrian Women's Council in Qamishlo organized a dialogue session today, Saturday, April 11, titled "The Story of Roses," with the participation of representatives from political parties, civil society organizations, independent figures, intellectuals, and Autonomous Administration institutions.
Also participating in the session were women united by the will to live and achieve success despite challenges, including widows who bore life's responsibilities alone, and women with special needs who proved that disability is not in the body. All affirmed women's presence and active role in building society.
The session highlighted women's presence and emphasized their role as active elements in building society, at a time when interest in women's issues and enhancing their participation in public life is clearly growing. The number of attendees reached nearly fifty women, giving the session a vibrant character reflecting the extent of feminist interaction and solidarity.
During the session, interventions by Nabila Hami and Arifa Bakr, members of the Syrian Women's Council, stood out. They presented in-depth readings of the experiences of the participating women and highlighted the transformations many of them had undergone—from states of social and economic fragility to role models of self-reliance and professional and social success. They stressed that these success stories are not exceptions but indicators of what women can achieve when given space and support.
The words spoken were not merely narratives of individual experiences but turned into living testimonies of women's ability to break the stereotypes that have long limited their role and redefine their place within society. The participants spoke of their journeys with pain and moments of breakdown they experienced before transforming those moments into launching points toward a different future. The importance of the session was that it did not limit itself to showcasing individual successes but sought to establish the concept of collective feminist work based on exchanging experiences and mutual support, contributing to creating a more empowering environment for women.
The participants affirmed that women's empowerment is not limited to the economic aspect but also includes intellectual, cultural, and social empowerment, enhancing their ability to make decisions and participate actively in various fields.
Given the challenges facing the regions of Rojava, such initiatives emerge as a necessity to strengthen women's role and inspire others through the success stories that are told, which constitute important steps toward breaking constraints and building a more just and balanced society.
In conclusion, the participants in the session stressed that women are no longer confined to the limits of suffering but have transcended it to be at the heart of action and change, creating from themselves and their reality a renewed success story, writing their history with their own hands, with an unbreakable will and a voice that cannot be ignored.
